rules of theatre. I say we let her continue. What do you say?

(Motions to the audience to give him an answer.) Come on. What

do you say?

(The audience shouts for her to continue.)

STUDENT LEADER:

Every student in this town is a criminal, if you listen to

the right people. There are 19,000 students in this school and

I find it hard to believe that all are arsonists, killers and

revolutionaries. Yes, there were four members of SDS on this

campus....all four well-known to both students and the law....

because all four had been busted and jailed weeks before on

another rap. Three left town, one stuck around, but with his

fangs trimmed. The real protest started on Friday, May first....

at seven o'clock in the morning....

REPORTER:

One kid showed up with a sign reading.....DON'T FALL ASLEEP DURING

A REVOLUTION. Another one balanced out the morning activity with

one reading....COMMIT AN UNNATURAL ACT-- LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

STUDENT LEADER:

The White House had just announced a pull-out date for Cambodia....

but coupled it with a statement that more troops were going in....

hardly a way to win friends and influence a young man of draft

age. More soldiers were to die that day in Vietnam and Cambodia

looked even darker. A graduate student in history decided to work

on the politics of protest. He announced his morning meeting....in

the belief that change was needed in the American political system....
